Partnership Summary

Davis Aerospace & Maritime High School and PHASTAR are pleased to announce a major partnership with United Airlines beginning fall 2020. The purpose of this partnership is to support Davis A&M’s mission to embed authentic, real-world opportunities at the core of the student experience, and to bolster United’s mission to drive diversity and inclusion by preparing Davis graduates for a future in the aviation industry.

There are four initial components to the partnership:

Flight Training

  • 10-12 Junior and Senior students from Davis A&M enroll as Pilot Candidates into the Flight Training program each school year
  • Training provided by PHASTAR, funded by United
  • Flight blocks incorporated into academic experience
  • Transportation to/from airports is included

Student Manufacturing

  • United will purchase supply chain components manufactured by students in Davis A&M FabLab
  • Student involvement includes:
    • Product production
    • Packaging/shipping
    • Accounting/financial reporting
    • Marketing/RFPs for additional projects
  • Project aligned to Davis A&M’s new CTE Engineering pathway

Student Internships

  • Paid internships for Davis A&M seniors with meals and transportation included
  • “Rotation-style” experience through logistics, supply chain departments at CLE Hopkins Airport
  • Mentoring and feedback provided by United staff
  • Application-based student placements influenced by interest and academic record
  • Monitoring/site-visits by Davis A&M and PHASTAR staff
  • Potential employment pipeline

PHASTAR Board Seat

  • United will receive seat on PHASTAR Board
  • Support includes:
    • additional fundraising/grant writing
    • facilitation of partnership components
    • strategic involvement in aligning school outcomes to authentic industry needs.
